Festival Features Artists, Carvers

STONE HARBOR - World class wildlife and maritime artists, renowned bird carvers and other artisans will display their works during the NewJersey Wings N Water Festival to be held in Cape May County. Sept. 21 to 22. Visitors will have the pleasure of viewing some of the country's finest paintings and carvings, displayed by noted artists who will compete in art and carving shows during the twoday festival. SOME OF the noted artists and craftsmen who will present their paintings of wildlife and environmental scenes, and carvings of birds and decoys include: Robert Barrett, Ned Ewell, Danny O'Driscoll, Judy Moss Welton and Wilhelm J. Goebel. Judy Moss Welton. has been seen on covers of major wildlife magazines and her works have been selected by the National Wildlife Federation and the National Audubon Society for use in their respective publications. Ned Ewell. former artist of the year for New Jersey Ducks Unlimited, and a member of "Who's Who in Waterfowl Art" will also attend the festival displaying his water colors of wildlife. IN ADDITION, artists and craftsmen will vie for cash prizes in an art show, and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase paintings and carvings. First prize this year is $500, donated by Dr. and Mrs. Stitz of Stone Harbor and the Monaghan Tire Co. of Rio Grande; second prize is $250 from Sandpiper Art Galerie of Stone Harbor, and the third place prize of '65 Class Reunion Set WILDWOOD - The Wildwood High School Class of 1965 is now planning its 20-year-class reunion. scheduled for Saturday. Sept. 28, with a dinnerdance at the Crab House, adjacent to Two Mile Inn on Ocean Drive in Lower Township. A complete weekend of activities is planned including a Meet-and-Greet Night Friday evening. Sept. 27. at the Wharf on West Burk Avenue here. Members of other graduating classes are welcome to attend. $100 was donated by. The Olive Tree, also of Stone Harbor. A $200 special, prize has been donated by the William Ris Galleries in Stone Harbor to purchase a painting that will be given to the Wetlands Institute, the host of the Wings 'N Water Festival. ASIDE FROM the art show and sale, more than 30 festive events and demonstrations are planned. including wildlife exhibits. retriever demonstrations and a sunset cruise with naturalists, all to entertain visitors during the annual Wings 'N Water Festival. The festival benefits the Wetlands Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public understanding and concern for coastal life and environments.
