League's Founder Takes Look Back

. As the ('ape May County Midget Football League prepared to start its 25th year, one of its founders. Paul F. Parrinello. took the occasion to look back at the early years of the league Parrinello and Dr. Erie I^aqyer started the league in i960 with four teams. They were the Regional Youth Club of West Cape May. Middle Township Knights, txiwer Township Raiders, and the Stone Harbor Lions. A FEW YEARS later they were joined by the Avalon Fire. Woodbine Chargers, Sea Isle City Chiefs, Ocean City Hawks, and still later, by the Wildwood Warriors. Woodbine played only one year, and the Stone Harbor and Avalon teams joined to become the Firelions. In 1962 the league became a member of the National Pop Warner League Parrinello served as president for six years and league commissioner for four years. After retiring from the league in 1973 he was awarded a plaque by the county freeholders for his work. t I
