Burdette Fund Use Probed

COURT HOUSE - The office of state Attorney General Irwin I. Kimmelman will investigate to determine whether chairtable funds are being misspent at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. That assurance was given in a letter dated Aug. 16 to Frank Casey, chairman of the Friends of Burdette Inc., which had Kimmelman in July asking for a probe of "enormous legal costs to the hospital for the services of a law firm in which Jjasmtal board chairman AlanT. Gould, of Wildwood, is a partner." FRANK CASEY, chairman of the Friends, said he was pleased that the Attorney General has agreed to investigate the spending of hospital money — funds which the Friends maintain could be better used for patient care. "I personally am very upset at the enormous legal fees encountered by the hospital and the GouldValore connection," Casey said. "Perhaps now things will be brought to light that have been occuring at the hospital since the new board took over and barred citizens of Cape May County from open and fair representation on the board. "Carl Valore, who was represented the hospital," in the law firm of which Gould is a member).
