Wetlands Chief Extends Welcome
Dr. William W. Reynolds, the new executive director of The Wetlands Institute, wishes to welcome everyone to the 1985 New Jersey Wings 'n Water ' Festival this weekend. As a research scientist, Dr. Reynolds has published more than 100 scientific papers, a laboratory - manual and numerous book chapters. Much of this work has been published jointly with his wife, Martha E. Casterlin. DR. REYNOLDS has lectured at numerous universities in North America and also in Pakistan, where he spent an academic year as a Senior Fulbright Professor at the Graduate Center of Excellence in Marine Biology, University of Karachi. While in Pakistan, he participated in numerous research projects on the northern Arabian Sea. in-
cluding studies on the nesting of the green sea turtle. HE HAS also been an invited lecturer at a NATO Advanced Study Institute on Environmental Physiology of Fishes, and has participated in international symposia on fever, pharmacology of thermoregulation, fish behavior in relation to power plants, biological monitoring of fishes and other subjects, as well as organizing a symposium on Thermoregulation in Ectotherms for the American Society of Zoologists which was funded by the National Science Foundation. Areas in which he has conducted research include marine, estuarine and freshwater ecology, as well as biomedical, physiological and other subjects. Dr. Reynolds plans further studies in the vicinity of The Wetlands Institute.
Wings 'n Water Aims at Education
STONE HARBOR - Environmental education for children of all ages is a main concern of the Wetlands Institute, and several educational experiences will be featured — during the Third Annual New Jersey Wings n Water Festival Saturday and Sunday. The main tent outside the institute, on Stone Harbor Boulevard, will house the environmental exhibits. Representatives from the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. Marine Science Consortium. Avian Rehabilitation Center. New Jersey Wildfowlers and others will be on hand all day Saturday and Sunday to answer questions- and tell about their work and organizations. INCLUDED WILL be live birds, audiovisual programs. and educational materials from each group Guided nature walks at specific times on both days will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the different habitats in the coastal area. Local naturalists and scientists will guide these walks at Stone Harbor Point, the marshes at the wetlands Institute, and the Avalon Dunes at 50th and Dune Drive. FALL IS an especially beautiful time of year, with many marsh and beach ! flowers in full bloom. Guides will point out the local flora and fauna as well as answer questions. Times for these walks are ' listed in the festival program. Children's activities will abound at the institute, with fiddler crab races, touch tanks, kite making workshops and flying contests, fish printing, arts and crafts, and scavenger hunts. i Prizes will be awarded for certain activities, whose times are listed in the festival program.

Festival, Sea Songs COLD SPRING - Saturday, and Sunday, the Wings 'n Water Festival and Bill Dempsey with his songs of the sea will be featured at Historic Cold Spring Village. The festival will run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dempsey will be performing at 12:30 and 2 p.m. Call 884-1810 for further information.
