(From Page 48) still around No. 9 and No. 10 Buoys and around 14 Ft. Light. Weakfish and fluke are showing in big numbers in the Deadman's Shoal (Bug Light) area. SMALL BOATS fishing out of Wildwood Villas, Reeds Beach and Bidwell's Creek have been doing well along the inshore edge of the Bayshore Channel. Hot spots include the mouth of Coxe Hall Creek and the inshore edge of the Bayshore Channel along Town Bank and Wildwood Villas. Boats are scoring well a mile to 1% miles off the beach. Best bait for weakfish is shedder crab. It is expensive and hard to get. It does work well. The most widely used weakfish bait is squid. Other good weakfish baits include cut and live spot, bunker (menhaden) strips, cut buterfish and mackerei strips. Filets of small bluefish and even the white underbelly of a weakfish work well. SHEDDER TIP: As the
season winds down, shed- ' der crabs get hard to get. Many anglers are increasing the odds by adding a live minnow to their squid bait to entice weakfish and fluke. This bait combo has worked well for years in lower Delaware Bay, the inland waterways, and in the ocean off the Jersey Coast for fluke and weaks. Blue Catch: George Barth of Sea Isle City, boated a 16*.,-lb. bluefish on a trip to Sea Isle Lump. George was fishing in his boat, the Rhubarb, with his brother, Harry, a former commissioner in Sea Isle City. BAY CATCH. Al Palm and four fellow anglers boated an assortment of fish on an outing to Delaware Bay. They caught three blues to two pounds; three fluke to five pounds and one sea bass. The rest of the total of 45 fish they brought in was weakfish, according to Audrey Rodia at Rodia's Tackle shop in Rio Grande.
