Workshop Slated On Small Business

TRENTON — A workshop for small business owners < interested in learning about 1 state and federal financial < assistance programs has been in scheduled next month in Cape May County. > The workshop will be held I Thursday, Oct. 10, at the I Cape May County Voca- I tional School, Exit 11, Gar- I den State Parkway and I Crest Haven Road. Court House. The workshop will run 8:30 a.m. to noon, and is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Commerce and Economic Development's Office of Small Business Assistance and the Cape May County Economic Development Commission. TOPICS TO be covered include financial assistance programs offered through the New Jersey Local Development Financing Fund, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA), the U.S. Economic Development Administration. the U.S. Farmers Home Administration (FmHA). the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Administration, the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Authority, the Corporation for Business Assistance in New Jersey and the N.J. Small Business Innovation Research Bridge Grant Program. REPRESENTATIVES from the New Jersey EDA. the State Department of Community Affairs, the Urban Development Action Grant Program, the U.S. SBA, the state Office of Small Business Assistance, the U.S. FmHA, and the N.J. Commission of Science and Technology are expected to attend to explain the services available. The workshop is designed to assist small business owners, as well as attorneys.real estate brokers and accountants. Bergey Featured At Chamber Fete

COURT HOUSE - Ruth McCormick, chairperson of the County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and installation banquet committee has announced that Bill Bergey, former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker, will be the guest speaker at the annual meeting. Bergey has become a popular nationally-known speaker since his active football days. A summer resident of Avalon, Bergey is also a former Cape May County business owner BERGEY RETIRED from football after 12 playing seasons ( 13 years count- • ing injury year). He was four times all pro (1974, 76, 77 and 78), playing in the Pro Bowl the same four years. Bergey grew up in South Dayton. NY (town of 796 people on the shores of Lake Erie ) , and was a star athlete at his high school, playing fullback on the football team and was all-conference in basketball.
