Vigil Set CAMDEN — A 24-hour POW/MIA vigil will be held Saturday. Nov. 2. and Sunday. Nov. 3. in Cooper River Park here, under the sponsorship of the South Jersey POW/MIA Awareness Committee. Opening ceremonies will be held at noon Nov. 2. including massing of colors • of participating veterans' groups, a 21-gun salute, guest speakers, recognition of former POWs and MIA families, and the reading of the names of those still sought. A candlelight service will be held 9 o'clock that night and reading of names and vigil will continue. Cermonies to begin at 8 a.m. Sunday will include non-demoninational church service, salute to the colors, and closing cermonies.
State Park Puts Focus on Nature
CAPE MAY POINT - A series of guided walks and slide shows will be offered for the month of October by naturalists at the Cape May Point State Park here. Walks, which last from one to one and a half hours, begin at the park visitors' center. Slide shows are held in the Environmental Education Building. For more in- i formation, call 884-2159. Guided walks will be held < as follows: BIRD WALKS — Wednesday through Satruday at 8 a.m. Oct. 9-12,
16-19, 23-26, 30-31. A walk to good birding spots within the park. Bring binoculars and field guides, if available. The migration of birds through Cape May is underway. Nature Walk — Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. 10. 17, 24 and 31. A walk though the Park's trails introducing visitors to the uniqueness of this area. Learn about bayberry and other coastal plants, blooming wildflowers, get a glimpse into freshwater pond life, and see some of the wildlife and birds. Beach Walk — Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13, 20 and 27. A beachcombing adventure in search of seaweeds and shells, crabs and jellyfish. Cape May Diamonds, and the fun stories of each. Be prepared for wet feet. WILDFLOWER and Weed Walk — Saturday at 11 a.m. Oct. 12. 19, and 26. What's me difference between a wildflower and a weed? -is there a difference? Come and learn Bring a hand lens, if available. Herbal and Edible Plant Walk — Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 9. 16. 23 and 30. Learning to eat a little and heal a little with wild plants. Hawk Demonstration — Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. Oct. 12-13. eighteen different kinds of hawks migrate through Cape May in the fall. See some of these hawks close up and , learn more about them.
