■ COLUMBUS will be in the spotlight this coming week. For many people the three day weekend is a getaway time of year to enjoy a autumn interlude. In Cape May a panoply of activities, special events and tours will be taking place during Victorian Week. A lot of people have discovered the fun of autumn at the seashore and they've been finding their way here to enjoy this popular time of year. If you've been around this area for a few years, you won't have any trouble remembering when Labor Day put the finishing touches on the season'. Not so anymore. 'The season' is lengthening and lengthening. WHILE the season lengthens, the minutes of daylight are growing shorter. Early risers are noticing the difference. And the day draws to a close much earlier now. Toward the end of day a chill creps into the air. Sunsets are brief painted pictures in the sky, and the stars prick through the dark veil overhead. And one by one we notice lights being turned on one by one in the neighborhood where we live. There's an old-fashioned comfort in drawing the curtains after a well spent October day. **• As we observe the seasonal changes that October always brings, we take
