COURT HOUSE - Walter Sachs Jr. of 301 Lake Drive, Cape May Point, has been named as the executive director of the Cape May County Industrial and Economic Development Commission. who is a resident of Cape May County. Frederick indicated that Sachs met both criteria. The new executive director holds a Master of Architecture degree and a Master of City Planning Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. SACHS a strategic planning advisor to corporations, institutions and governmental agencies. During eight years as president of First Philadelphia Group. Sachs specialized in advisory services related to major real estate projects. He was formerly executive vice president and treasurer of Rehenkamp Sachs and Wells and Associates, a nationally recognized Philadelphia land planning firm that served clients in 15 states. He was associated with Rehenkamp Sachs and Wells for 10 years. As a founder and during his 10 years with RSWA, Sachs was instrumental in the development of the firm's analytical computer capability, adapting computer systems to the problems of public and private land use. The firm originally specialized in land planning and planned unit developments, but expanded to include a wide range
of public and private planning projects. THESE INCLUDED political assessment studies, municipal master planning, environmental impact, analysis, and economic and market appraisals. Recent consulting engagements included a master plan and developmental strategy for a retail commercial complex at Smithville, for American Broadcasting Co.; a fabricating plant reuse study for Bethlehem Steel Co.. and management of the planning and design process for a 3,000-acre ski resort in Snowmass. Col. Some other representative assignments in which Sachs participated include an economic impact model for Duxbury, Mass.; a watershed development plan for the Wissahicon Watershed in Philadelphia; an evaluation of density standars for Hallendale, Fla. ; a planned unit development project for Pine Hills. Long Island, N.Y.; an economic feasibility study for Columbia, Md.; and a market study for Peoria, 111. SACHS ALSO worked on an agri-community plan for the Department of Agriculture in Pennsylvania and environmental assessment methods for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Sachs is an adjunct Associate Professor of City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a charter member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a registered planner in New Jersey and Michigan. He is a borough commissioner of Cape May Point and president of the Cape May Point Taxpayers Association. A NATIVE of Philadelphia, Sachs is a graduate of Lower Merion High School. He is married, has four children, and moved to Cape May Point almost three years ago. He was elected borough commissioner in the spring of 1984 | In W. Germany ! RIO GRANDE - Army Pvt. Carl J.
