Last week's tennis action featured two wins apiece for Middle Township. Lower Cape May and Ocean City. The lady Panthers of Middle Township swept past Absegami twice. 5-0. •II Tracy Yarborough. Helen Ann Lloyd and Michelle Clayton led the singles crew for Middle's first win of the week Yar b o r o u g h a n d L I o y d delivered fast defeats with a 6-0 6 2 score each Call Loguc and Tracy Crccnwaldt teamed up for a 6-2 6-0 doubles victory Kara McVey and Missy Whithngton recorded a 6-3 6-4 win, Later in the week. Ahsegami was presented with another loss on a Panther platter. Lloyd was a Middle singles star once again with a 62 7-5 victory. Clayton was even less mer ciful as she dell a 6-4 6-t
blow over Absegami. Logue and Greenwaldt occupied winning positions next to McVey and Whittington who trounced their opponents 6-3 6-3. Middle's record has been boosted to a tremendous 12-0 while Absegami falls to 4-8 overall. I.OWKK CAPE MAY. last year's title owners, are surviving with a 50-50 record. LOWER CAPE MAY GAVE St. Joe a wake up call on the football field last week. The 1-2 Capers knotted the score at 6-6 for a tie against St. Joe's 3-0 team. St. Joe owned a 6-0 advantage at the half. Quarterback Danny Scocca avoided a sticky Caper defense until Bill Curly came into view in the end zone. The touchdown pass was followed by a wide extra point attempt. The third quarter belonged to the Capers. After Caper Eric Albert committed an offensive in- , terference. Lower had a \ fourth down on the Wildcats 40. Quarterback Kevin Lare spotted Mark Shiffbauer in the end zone < where he leaped over St. -j' Joe for a touchdown catch I and the tie. C The Raiders' three-point gain was a Chris Gunnel's boot three minutes into the game. Senior Colt Mike Green was in the end zone after a seven-play sequence for Cumberland's only touchdown. Ocean City did most of the winning as they smashed Atlantic City twice. 7-0 and 5-1. Kristie Miller's stick had radar while she connected for three goals in the first half of the Division I win. Miller also netted one in the second half for the Raiders. Claudia Gorman and Linda Cooper tallied two and one. respectively. Cooper and Shannon Cox combined their defensive talents for two saves at the Raider goal. Ocean City's second blow to Atlantic City was a combination of Miller. Beth Delcorio Gorman for a total of five goals and a win. .r. Middle Township slipped on past Lower Cape May for a 2-1 victory over the Capers. Michelle Eisiminger and Angie Spencer were the Panthers's power with two first-half goals. Ann Ruediger netted the Caper's only score. Michele McKeon defended Lower Cape May's goal by rejecting six St. Joe at tempts for a 0-0 tie. St. Joe managed a shutout as the undefeated squad kept Lower from a single goal attempt.
Nacrelli In Clinic Command NORTH CAPE MAY - Navy Capt. Walter A. Nacrelli. son of local resident Grace A. Nacrelli. recently assumed command at the Naval Medical Clinic. Key West, FL. Nacrelli began his career in the Navy as a recruit in August. 1956.
