Cape-Atlantic Bus Serving 300

NEWARK - More than .too riders a day are using NJ Transit's bus route No 102 Cape May-Atlantic City since the statewide public transportation corporation implemented the service six months ago "Our successful Cape May-Atlantic City bus service has opened up to residents of Cape May County opportunities for employment and entertainment in Atlantic City casinos, and we expect ridership to continue to grow." said NJ Transit executive director Jerome C. Fremo. AVERAGE DAILY ridership on the line started April 6 has doubled from a total of approximately 150 passengers during the first month of service. To accommodate expanding summer ridership to the resort city. NJ Transit increased service on June 29 to 12 daily round trips from the initial nine daily round trips serving casino employes and others traveling between points in Cape May County and Atlantic City. Premo noted. In January, the route will operate 11 daily round trips to account for slightly lower winter ridership. TI1E COMMUNITIES and locations served by the No. 102 route include Cape

May City, West Cape May, the Ferry Terminal. North Cape May; Bennett's Crossing. Erma. Rio Grande. Wildwood. North Wi Idwood. Burleigh . Mayville, Court House, the Seaville and Marmora Park/Rides and Atlantic City. The route is designed to serve the largest number of potential passengers within the most reasonable travel times, according to Premo To select the route. NJ Transit staff analyzed data supplied by the casinos showing where most casino employes reside in Cape May County. "WE DEVELOPED a schedule in which daily trips coincide with the major casino shifts." said G. Wray Thomas, deputy general manager of NJ Transit bus operations. Southern Division. "We aim to provide comfortable. convenient, safe, reliable and economical bus service as an attractive alternative to driving between Cape May County and Atlantic City." The trip time from Cape May is approximately 90 minutes and service from Wildwood takes under one hour. Buses operating on the No. 102 line depart Cape May City at 2 a.m.. 5:59

EDISON - ' Midlantic Banks Inc has announced continuing record earnings performance for the third quarter and first nine months of 1985. Consolidated net income for the three-month period ended Sept 30. reached $25.3 million, as compared to $17.3 million reported for the third quarter of 1984 Fully diluted earnings per share rose 9.4 percent to $t 16. from the $1 .06 earned in the same period last year FOR TIIE FIRST nine months of 1985. Midlantic's consolidated net income was $64 6 million, or $3.28 per fully diluted share, as compared to $47.0 million, or $2 95 per fully diluted share earned in the first three quarters of 1984 The earnings include the results of Heritage Bancorporation since the acquisition May 1. 1985 "The strong earnings performance for the third quarter and the first nine months reflects higher net interest income resulting from continued growth in earning assets, a stable net interest margin and increased fee income." stated Robert Buren. chairman and chief executive officer of Midlantic. Total loans increased to $6,186 billion from $4,090 billion at the same date last year, deposits grew to $7,943 billion from $5,289 billion a year earlier. and shareholders' equity was $561 million at Sept. 30. compared to $.374 million at Sept. 30. 1984 Midlantic maintained consistent profitability measures for the third quarter with a return on average assets, on an annualized basis, of 106 percent, and return on average shareholders' equity of 18 22 percent Further. Midlantic's ratio of the allowance for loan losses to total loans at the end of the third quarter was better than industry averages at l .85 percent
