I Cape Employers I Honored by Guard

CREST HAVEN - The 154th Supply and Service Battalion honored six area employers Saturday at the second annual National Guard awards ceremony at the armory here. For the first time in the battalion's history, civilians were honored with the Civil Employers Award for support of the Guard and Reserve. They were selected on the basis of recommendations by employes who are members of a Guard unit. THE RECIPIENTS were: Greg Simpkins of Caesar's Hotel and Casino; William Cathceart of Cape May County Municipal Authorities, Frank Conway of South Shore Construction, Richard Harmon of the City of Wildwood, builder Ronald L. Sowers {and Edward Proud, of 'Lofts and Proud. Inc. First Sgt. James S. Johnson received the meritorious service medal, the highest award presented. Johnson, who was First Sergeant of the ,253rd Transportation Co., I retired at the end of August after 17 years of active duty and 10 years in the National Guard. Recipients of the Army commendation medal were; Capt. Robert D. Springer. Capt. Frank A. Szvmanski, 1st Lt. James F Quigley, CW2 Ernest C. Super. 1st Sgt Jerome F.
