Combination Tours Run in November

CAPE MAY - Throughout November, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) is sponsoring combination trolley/Physick Estate tours and walking tours that offer visitors an overview of the city's famous Victorian architecture. Combination trolley/Physick Estate tours are offered on the following schedule: Saturdays — 11 a.m. -noon, 1:30 p.m.. and 2:30 p.m.: Sundays —ill a.m. -noon and 1 p.m.; Wednesdays — 11 a.m. and noon. Combination tours begin at the Emlen Physick J Estate. 1048 Washington St.. with an hour-long guided trolley tour that covers both the East End and West End Historic Districts. In MAC's heated, enclosed trolley bus. trained guides point out landmark I buildings and regale visitors with accounts of | Cape May's heyday as a Victorian seashore resort UPON RETURNING to the estate, visitors are next guided through the interior of the Physick House. The 16-room mansion was designed by renowned architect Frank Furness. Built in 1881 in the Stick Style, it has been painstakingly restored as a highquality Victorian House Museum. Its interior contains outstanding examples of Eastlake-style furnishings and • fixtures (many of which were original family pieces designed by Furness. himself), as well I as collections of costumes. I toys, and artifacts. ENDING THIS combina tion tour on a festive note, visitors are served hot cider and goodies in the Physick House Dining Room.

Tickets are on sale at the entrance to the Physick House. No reservations are necessary. (Tickets for the Trolley and Physick Estate tours may also be purchased separately. Walking tours of the Historic District are offered every Saturday and Sunday morning at 10. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides provide insights into the customs and traditions of the Victorians and their ornate, delightful architecture. Each Walking Tour takes about 1 and 1/2 hours, and begins at the Information Booth at the head of the Washington Street Mall (at Ocean Street).
