Couple's Son Sparks Recording
COURT HOUSE - Robert Chamberlin, son of Rev. Charles and Sarah Chamberlin,. residents here, is one of four composers whose works are featured in a recent recording released in St. Louis by the New Music Circle. The elder Chamberlin is chaplain of the Lutheran Home in Ocean View. "Reflections" is a I premier recording of the 1 works of Chamberlin and three other composers, including Pulitzer Prize0 winner Michael Colgrass. THE ALBUM celebrates the 25th anniversary of the M New Music Circle in St. 1 Louis and contains a varie1 ty of new music, blending I acoustic and electrical / sounds. I Robert Chamberlin is a member of the composition faculty of Webster University in St. Louis. His works have been performed at new music festivals in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri, as well as on faculty and guest artist recitals at universities and colleges. HIS "DAYSONG" for tuba, marimba, and tape was recently commissioned by Scott Warson of the University of Kansas. His "interplay" for unaccompanied cello, which was premiered by the New Music Circle, appears in the book Music Theory by Earl Henry. Chamberlin is listed in Contemporary American Composers: a Biographical
Dictionary, by E. Ruth f Anderson, and many of his i compositions are housed in s the Special Collections Section of the University of i Arkansas Library.
He has also served as director of sound and composer for the St. Louis Repertory Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night '» Dream.
