Here's the latest! White fingernail polish and white lipstick: and no. it's not a Halloween thing, but for all winter long. This is not the sort of silver-white nail polish you've seen right along, but a stark sort of white-white. Anyway, it's supposed to match your lipstick. Oh yes. the face is supposed to be white too. with a white face powder to give it a matt finish Eyes, of course, are made up to the hilt. All that comes to my mind is a scary look — sort of ghoulish. IIATS OF ALL kinds are in. The bowler hat. turban, gold-embroidered pillbox and hats with veils. No matter what, you're not dressed if you do not sport some kind of hat For awhile we all went .somewhat hat less, perhaps just for a special occasion. Not so now: it's the hat come back — the older the better
The Star of the Sea Thrift Shoppe has had some real oldies and as soon as vintage clothes come in there are always some young folk who want to buy them. Don't throw away your husband's or brother's suit jackets. They're in too. with the sleeves rolled up i almost to the elbow, and it doesn't matter how long j they are on you. One lady ] bought six jackets for her "going away to school wardrobe". But then, not to be out- I done, along came four i young men who promptly ! bought the ladies' fur hats. J tried them on. and said they were just the thing for j the campus. Oh well, at j least that cost was minimal 1 all the way 'round. SO MANY NICK people call me to say they enjoy this column so much — they've tried my -cookie recipe and it was delicious. My "diet recipe" was also well received and sent out to all the relatives. Some I i even call to say how they're I progressing with their I weight . etc. I feel I somewhat ashamed, but 1 I do tell them that I can't I stick it out too long because I I dream of good food! I Cape May Women's I Republic Club are planning I j a shopping trip to the I Echelon Mall Wednesday. Dec 4. Call me if you think you'd like to go. Bus leaves Cape May 8:15 a.m. Call 884-4770. SATURDAY. Dec 7. is the Star of the Sea School Christmas Bazaar, to be held in the parish hall on Ocean Street. This year I understand there will be lots of games, which should make the young folk happy. Also on Dec. 7 is the 50th wedding anniversary of Kay and Purnell Goldy. which will be celebrated with a Mass at Star of the Sea Congratulations to this lovely couple from all their many friends HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Herman Merrick. Sally Kriebs and baby Johnny Schriebman. I DON'T KNOW if you've ever eaten this, but right from Italy is a dish called "Osso Buco" "It's made with veal shanks with the bones Salt and pepper, dusting the veal shanks with flour, then saute in olive oil for about five minutes Add diced carrots, onion, mushrooms, celery, garlic gloves. 1 teaspoon butter for about eight minutes Then deglace with two ounces of red wine, add eight ounces beef bouillon, chicken or veal stock. 3 sprig each of tarragon and thyme t pearl onion if you have them*, a handful of green beans and cover pot and cook in oven at 325 degrees for one hour and 20 minutes. You can boil some fettucine (macaroni) on the side and serve together; simply delicious and cheap too. IN MEMOKIAM: Ann Dubin — a dedicated I i worker with the Cape May I {Rescue Squad for many.
