'From Page 17 » celebrating its 75th Anniversary was published nationally in the November issue of The Episcopalian. Their account gave a brief history of the church at 95th and Third Avenue. In 1910. a realty firm donated the plot of land and the wife of developer David Itisley started a building fund drive. Known originally as St. Mary's by the Sea, the cedar-shingled frame structure cost $6,000 to complete. Suffragan Bishop Garland dedicated the church in 1911 and it was consecrated in 1917 by the Kt. Rev. Paul Matthews. the fifth Bishop of New Jersey. The church celebrated its anniverary with more than 100 members attending a dinner at the Whitebrier Inn in Avalon. One of the highlights was when Father Wesley Martin commended l.vdia Battendiere for 55 years of unswerving dedication to j the church and parish

Councilman Harry Strohmetz did yeoman service as emcee by coaxing reticent guests into participating in hilarious games. This group enjoys nothing more than laughing at itself.
