The Sea Lions. Women's Auxiliary of Stone Harbor Lions Club, are poised for another leap to collect funds for the Diller Vacation Home for the Blind. Sunday. Dec. 1. they'll hold a brunch and bazaar at The Whitebrier Inn in Avalon from 10 a m until 2. They are separate to the extent that one may browse at the bazaar without fee and skip the lunch, but we don't advise it. Sunday brunch is a feature here and there'll be informal modeling by local lasses all during the meal. Gals will be wearing chic outfits and accessories from Quintessence and the Irish Pavillion The Bazaar, chaired by Teddy Vinci and Jane McGrath. promises to be special too. All kinds of hand-made items will tempt you: men's, women and children's sweaters by accomplished knitters; jellies, cookies and exotic

jams made by lionesses wearing chef's hats; and Bonnie Feise has been working months creating top-secret Christmas surprises. Only items not wrought by loving hands will be purchasable at a table with Elegant Reruns, meaning; brand new gifts donated by members. Members and Ladies Auxiliary of Stephen C. Ludlam Post 331 of the American Legion gathered for their November meeting, very appropriately on Veterans' Day. We were glad to learn that Post Commander Jim Danial. after paying tribute to the fallen, deplored current commercialization of the holiday. We too, resent merchants' capitalizing on what should be a day of prayer and remembrance. The auxiliary swore two members in as officers, j Virginia Sheneman, who had been elected president, was forced to retire because of personal reasons and Gladys Heise was sworn in her stead. Gracine McMenamy took oath as 1st V.P. Past president Marian Hornsby swore the two into office. Veterans' day was also a fitting occasion for Marion to receive her retirement gift, a handsome sapphire set-in-gold ring marking her years of unstinting service to the Legion. The annual Christmas party was set for 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the post. Reservations are a must and obtainable from Bob Michael at Polly's Place. Diane Bonelli will soon celebrate her second year of owning her own flower shop, the Rose Petal, on Second Avenue. At its opening time curiosity about a new shop in town led us to discover that it was a new venture for an old friend. Diane presented the proj| gram for S.H. Garden J Club's Nov. 11th meeting. -'Program title was ■"Christmas Greeting"; Diane twisted birch boughs to form a reindeer, added a crepe-paper red nose and made a table arrangement for the holiday with flowers flown from South Africa 68 hours before. She uses blooms from there and South America to lend an exotic touch. Her second demonstration was the "most difficult one of all. a box of cut flowers in a small vase ". Natch, she (Page 15 Please)
