8 SJCA Teachers Attend Convention
ERMA — Eight teachers from South Jersey Christian Academy here, recently attended the Mid-Atlan-tic Christian School Association ( MACSA > Convention in Lancaster. Pa They were among some 2.300 delegates representing over 175 Christian schools from North Carolina to New England. More than 90 speakers held 207 workshops coverEcumenical Thanks Set For Point CAPE MAY POINT - An ecumenical Thanksgiving service is being planned for 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Nov. 28. at the Union Chapel on the Circle here. This community service is sponsored by the members of the Marianist Retreat House. Union Chapel Committee, The Sea Grove Conference Association and other church groups in the community. An invitation to all the people at the Point, their friends and visitors is extended to join in the giving of thanks for the blessings of the past and prayer for the days and years ahead. Central Bible NORTH WILDWOOD - "Much More of Salvation" is the: title of the 10:45 a.m. Sunday message of the pastor. Dr.'AIvin Baker, at Central Bible Church. 18th & Central Avenues. The message is based on Romans 5: 15-17. The morning message is followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. "The Christian and the Third Commandment" is the title of the 7 p.m. message. There are Sunday School classes for all . ages at 9:30 a.m. A nursery is available for all services. Penny Party NORTH CAPE MAY - A Christmas penny party will be held at St. John of God Church Hall, Town Bank Road. 7 p.m. Tuesday. Dec. 3. There will be refreshments and door prizes. THERE WERE also 72 exhibits from Christian colleges. textbook publishers. Gospel film distributors, bookstores, and fundraisers. According to SJCA Principal James Thrash, "The excellence of the MACSA Convention stimulated new interests, and provided a new challenge to SJCA's staff to put into practice the ideas and programs presented". Among the more interesting workshops attended by SJCA faculty was • Children's Literature: Past. Present, and Future" attended by Kindergarten teacher Kay Anderson, first grade teacher Carol Levai, and fourth grade teacher Linda Esher. KAREN FOX (second grade) and Janet Green (third) both attended workshops on "Teaching Word Identification Skills to Poor Readers" and "Characteristics of Effective Reading Programs." SJCA principal and sixth grade teacher James Thrash attended a threepart workshop on philosophy of Christian education.
