Middle Township high school's football coach Brian Tetley Tetley 's immunity system gave in after 16 years of screaming into helmet holes. In his three years as head coach. Tetley recorded two 4-5 records and a 5-4 winning cbmeback this season. The Panther's 0-4 start was enough to put any coach in a padded cell, but Tetley insisted on a fighting exit He led the Panthers to five straight wins for the first time in 15 years The final number was a 41-6 romp over Buena last Saturday. PANTIIKK MARK HOWARDS ran his 1.000th yard and tallied two touchdowns. His first was a 26-yard journey in the second quarter Quarterback Bob Hicks fired three touchdown passes and kicked five extra pointers Hicks' connections were Chris Chase for 17 and 22 yards and John Francis for an 86 yard score Mark Hindle went nine yards on foot for six points and Edwards' one-yard dive put the icing on the cake for the Panthers and coach Tetley Buena 's only score was a 95-yard kickoff return by Jay Joyce Unnoticed in the usual focus on varsity football was the Middle freshman team

The damper of the situation is the date of the Division III finals set for I Dec. 14. If it weren't at the price of I an empty basketball court. I there wouldn't be a problem. but since the NJSIAA i rules state that a player i must participate in six praci tices before playing a game. Deworming Clinic Set For Dec. 7 COURT HOUSE - A horse deworming clinic sponsored by the county Cooperative Extension Service and the 4-H is offered to all Cape May County horse and pony owners Saturday. Dec. 7. Anyone who has not received a registration form is asked to call 465-5115 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or to stop by the Extension Office on Dennisville Road to sign up for the service. Cooperating veterinarians will be Dr Robert Newman. BVSC, and Dr Alice Straughon They will be assisted by 4-H Leaders Nancy Rothenbiller and Margie Hermanns. The veterinarians will travel north to south in the county carrying out the deworming where the animals are stabled.
Ocean City winter sports are missing out. A solution has been found but cannot be put into effect until next year. It is simply to begin the season two weeks earlier. Ocean City has protested the date (provided they reach the finals), but as of now. no Ocean City football player will have time to change shoes before the opening tap. Yule Bazaar To Benefit Hospital SOMERS POINT - The 1985 Shore Memorial Hospital Christmas Bazaar has been set for Dec. 5 and 6 at Harry's Inn here. Gifts. Christmas decorations, hand knits, novelties, dolls, gourmet food and more will be on sale both days 11 a m to 8 p.m. Lunch and dinner will also be served. The hospital receives commission on each meal purchased between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m A tombola will also be held with prizes ranging from a basket of champagne to a 13-inch color television. One hundred seventy-five Atlantic football players put points on the scoreboards this year With 22 teams in the league, there are 32 players form our four local teams that tallied. Ocean City's Bob Krokenberger was a leading scorer with 10 touchdowns and one PAT for a total of 6 points. Middle Township's leader was John Francis near the top of the list with five touchdowns for the Panthers, a total of 30 points. Leading Wildwood was Andre Harris with four touchdowns adding up to 24 warrier points. Lower Cape May's Paul Hazel also collected 24 for his team leading the Capers in scoring. FORMER CAPE ATLANTIC League stars put on a show at Stockton State College last weekend as men's and women's basketball got off to a strong start. On the women's court, it was a 67-44 win over Ramapo lead by Mainland graduate Gabby Gandolfo.
