Mansions Focus Of Tours

Cape May — On three evenings during December. Mansions by Gaslight Tours will open four of the city's Victorian landmarks to the public. The tours will be held Saturdays Dec. 14 and 21. from 5 to 7 p.m.. and on the Friday before the Candlelight House Tour, Dec. 27. from 8 to 10 p.m Sponsored by the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts (MAC), these tours of the interiors of authentically

In order to help tour > goers get from one house to i another, MAC's trolley-bus ' will run on a continuous transit loop. Tour-goers intending to take the trolley to all four houses should start promptly at the Physick House. Houses open on the Mansions by Gaslight Tour include: Church Slates A Mini Fair CAPE MAY - The Cape May Lutheran Church will hold a mini Christmas fair 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday. Dec. 7. at the church. 309 Pittsburgh Ave. For sale will be fresh baked items, Christmas gifts, handmade toys, and table of gifts for everyone.

TJJE PHYSICK HOUSE, desinged by famous architect Frank Furness, which is a noted Victorian House Museum. It is the I headquarters of the Mid- I Atlantic Center for the Arts. The Abbey (Columbia Avenue and Gurney Street), built in 1869 for a Pennsylvania coal Baron, is an outstanding example of Gothic Architecture. It features a 60-foot tower, etched ru^y glass windows, and some of the most elegant formal rooms in town. THE MAINSTAY INN (635 Columbia Ave.) was built in 1872 as a posh gentlemen's gambling club. It is a classic example of the Italianate Style, with 14-foot ceilings and wraparound verandas. THE WILBKAHAM MANSION (133 Myrtle Ave. began as a simple I country farmhouse built in 1840. It was expanded and Victorianized in 1900 by the wealthy Wilbraham industrial family from Philadelphia to become the massive structure it is today. Its many rooms are filled with outstanding Victorian furnishings. On the Saturday evening of this Thanksgiving weekend. Nov. 30, the Gaslight tour will be held 5 ! p.m. to 7 p.m., visiting all the mansions above.
