Our Readers Write County Socks Lower Again To The Editor: TV had the Brady bunch. Lower Township has the "Greedy hunch, headed by Lower's resident and county Director of Freeholder-Director Gerry Thornton Thornton was present in Township Hall on Nov. 18 to sock it to Lower's taxpayers again in his attempt to acquire the Chamber of Commerce building for county programs If the county is interested in the building, let them take it to 4hc highly ratable grounds they have alreadyconfiscated from Lower's tax rolls. The ground on which it presently sits is sorely needed for expansion of township services in our rapidly growing community LEASING THE ground to the chamber was a serious mistake from the beginning, one that has proven not to be in the best interest of Lower's taxpayers That mistake must not Ik- repeated For those ol you who may not Ik- a wart; of Ixiwer's treat men! by the county, the following may serve as reminders a Your '85 tax bill revealed that the county took 20 per cent of the total, our local share was 27 percent I' To reiterate, the county occupies some of the most highly ratable ground in the Township the airport and Cold Spring Village. Why Did She Run? To The Editor I aim writing not as a politician hut as a confused citizen I cannot understand why M M •'Peggie'' Bieberback ran for "deputy mayor of Lower Township AS I RECALL, she was 100 percent against the newform of government and voiced her opinion loud and clear, as also did Thomas Clydesdale Now- she is happily part of it This is very confusing Perhaps it's another stepping stone to run for freeholder again? Time will tell. I suppose VIOLET DUNN Villas ■ Jt*u ^

The bill deals with victims of child sexual abuse and would, if passed, reform the New Jersey statutes covering prosecution of child sexual offenders. AT PRESENT, the New Jersey statute of limitations for reporting and prosecuting child sexual abusers is five years Thus means that a child abused at age five cannot prosecute an offender beyond the age of ten Most children are not able to even cope w ith the facts of sexual abuse un til entering adulthood in the late teens and early twenties, much less report a crime-particularly one' of an incestuous nature. Statistically, the average pedophile abuses between 70 and 75 children. How many of these crimes against our children could be prevented if our laws were changed to (Page £7 Please)
More Traffic, More Problems To The Editor: In the very near future, the central business district of Cape May Court House will see an expanded county court facility, more than likely the opening of a nursing home, and potentially, an addition to the Middle Township Municipal Hall. t Currently, it appears that local and county officials are planning for this in terms of parking only. Granted, there has been some discussion regarding the building of overpasses and the addition of a third signal I light on the Garden State Parkway. However, there seems to be no thinking as to the impact of increased traffic flowwithin the immediate area, that is. Main Street. Magnolia Drive. Mechanic Street. Hand Avenue, etc. LAST WEEK. I was caught in probably the first bottleneck in the history of Cape May Court House at the intersection of Mechanic and Main streets. A few days later, it took three changes of the signal light at the intersection of Main and Dennisville Road for me to make a left-hand turn. If there are problems now in 1985. what can we expect in 1990 or -2000'.' I urge all residents of Middle Township to encourage our local, county, and state officials to begin planning for the inevitable increase of traffic in this area or else begin buying stock in Excedrin. EDWARD ROSENBERG Cape May Court House The Cost of Recall To The Editor : On Nov 14. James Busha. an ex-councilman who served i ? i Avalon with Mayor Rachel Sloan, saw fit to turn in his recall petitions consisting of 446 names. lrNDEK THE laws of New Jersey, this appropriate onefourth of Avalon 's registered voters, can force the other 1.157 registered Avalon voters into a recall election, which will cost these same taxpayers and voters from $3,500 to $5,000. When your taxes go up and you wonder why. remember Busha will living in Stuart. Florida, away from the dissension his personal feelings have caused. ANYONE WHO signed this recall who has changed his mind, or feels that maybe he didn't exactly know what this would entail, remember to vote no to recall, and yes for Mayor Sloan MARY N.
