Ten years from now l.isa Harper expects to be living in a Greenwich Village hrownstone and working on a Broadway musical that is at the start of a successful three-year run For the time being she is in her senior year at Lower Cape May Regional directing the fall play. Thornton Wilder "s Our Town, being presented this Friday and Saturday at H p.m. in the high school auditorium Lisa's passion for the theater was fueled this past summer when she was selected as one of 126 youngsters from among it. 000 students statewide who competed lor places in the New Jersey Summer Arts Institute in New Brunswick. AS TIIK ONLY representative of Cape May County, she spent much of the time during the five-week program eagerly anticipating a return to school to practice the skills and share the experiences that made the institute so special She bubbles with enthusiasm as she recalls the summer institute, and it was her persistence and determination that set the stage for our fall production of Our Town. Paul Mathis is our resident play director and one ol Lisa's most ardent supporters. so when she approached him to ask it she could direct the lall play he
did the natural thing. They came together to see the principal I.N COOPERATION with the board of education it was arranged and Lisa, under the supervision of Mr Mathis. had her chance to prove that she has veryspecial abilities and that her love of the theater could be translated into a finished product. She selected thej play, arranged auditions, selected the cast and organized a rehearsal schedule All that remained to be answered was whether or not her peers would accept her direction Could she demonstrate enough knowledge and skill to get their cooperation'' TIIK ANSWERS will be provided this weekend, but in a sneak preview jou can expect to be thrilled with her effort Ms. Harper comes from a very supportive home Her parents Sharon and Ernie actively encourage Lisa and it is from that base that her talent has been able to grow As a learning experience. Our Town has already been an enormous success for - Lisa and the cast. If she never makes it to Broadway or the hrownstone. that won't matter, we will all have benefitted from the glow of Lisa Harper's dream
