I (From Page 42) i ANOTHER NOTKYVOK- | THY happening is in North I Wild wood. The Greater i Wildwood Optimists and I the North Wildwood I Recreation Department are co-sponsoring a winter I basketball league. If you i have a child between the i first and eighth grades plan 1 to enroll him/her in this en- i joyable activity. The I registration time is Monday. Dee. 12 between 7 and 8:30 p.m. The place is the I Rec Center at 10th and Cen- i tral Avenues. The league will begin I games in January and of : course, league assistants. I coaches, and volunteers are welcome. You may volunteer your tie when you child registers. ... I MENTIONED earlier about the exterior painting at the El Coronado. It seems that the facility will be undergoing a complete top to bottom, inside and out renovation. That's good for the touring public. Seasons, formerly Neil's, has undergone the same thorough renovation and is now open for business under the new ownership. That's good for us •yearrounders" looking for a good place to eat in the offseason months. Kona Sports, at the corner of New Jersey and Rio Grande Avenue, looks terrific after a fall facelift. The exterior upgrade brightens the whole corner. RUMOR IIAS IT that Pat s Steaks of Philly is dickering for the Sunoco station on Rio Grande Boulevard Pat's Steak's expansion efforts always include a tasteful greenhouse look similar to Bennigan's. That would be another plus for Rio Grande Boulevard. Things are shaping up for the upcoming season. Along the Boardwalk, the monstorous Sea Serpent

has the flakes — paint, that — and its keepers have sought out the coating expertise of Stan Mitchell from MAB Paints. The unruly dragon will be sporting a new coat of paint for the season of 1986. No small job to be sure. I wonder many gallons of paint will take coat the huge ride? I'll bet you know next week in case you are planning on buying one for your yard. SPEAKING OF Seasons, the new restaurant that is. official opening took place last week. Dec. 5. to exact. With much of the staff remaining from Neil's the place promises to do well. In fact, the North Wildwood Board of Education has scheduled the facility as the host restaurant for the School Board-Teacher's Association Annual Christmas Dinner. To insure success. I'd like to pass along a tip to the new owners. Have crackers, plenty of crackers, and Saltines if you have them. Lots of crackers! It seems that two of Margaret Mace's distinguished faculty are in a family way. Mrs. Flounders (Chris) and

Mrs. Baldwin (Vicki) are the proud mothers-to-be. . ; 1 but it hasn't been easy thus * far Crackers have become s a steady diet. I suppose if the new ■ owners can't muster up J some Saltines. a few of the old oyster crackers will do. : And. if you readers happen j to have a few coupon for Saltines lying about, you . know where to send them * care of Margaret Mace School. ALSO ON THE school front. Mrs. Little, a veteran of the teaching ranks at Philip Baker School in Wildwood Crest, has retired and has been replaced by Judy Davenport of the same community. Mrs. Little will be missed, but if she had to be < replaced, they could not have found a more energetic and enthusiastic replacement. Davenport has served as the president of the Wildwood Crest PTA and lives in the Crest with her husband Bob. a member of the Wildwood PD. and their family. We wish both educators well in their new endeavors. A SAD NOTE, also on the scholastic scene. Esther llaun passed away last week after a brief illness. Mrs. Haun was a long-time member of the faculty in Lower Township and for several years was a welcome substitute in the Five Mile Beach School system. She was a delight and an inspiration to many younger teachers and students as well. Her parting has been noted by many and she will be missed. You will not thorugh a I brief perusal of this week's column I fail to mention any Five Mile Beach activities that are scheduled for this Friday. Not that 1 would insinuate that the vast majority of Islanders are superstitious, it's just that there seems to be a j distinct lack of activity for 1 Friday. Dec. 13! Keep that 1 in mind, when you are go- I ing about your business this mid-December day!

Yule Party RIO GRANDE -A party for about 40 needy children will be hosted hv Local 5. United Independent Union. Saturday.
