Their program was melodious and briskly paced.

The group was caught a little off guard when Seniors' prexy Jerry Rowland asked for an encore. but delivered with real pro panache. Standouts were soprano Michelle Szmanski. bass Michael Donavan and singing alto. Robin Sudan. Nine hostesses. Mary C'onwell. Mary Duke. Wick Chain. Alice Daniels. Gracine McMenamy. Peg Grimes. Eileen Connors. F.thel Rudrauff and Ruth Fisher served cookies baked and decorated by the committee to student-enter-tainers and added moun- I tains of tea sandwiches and I rivers of coffee for I members. Went to a terrific preholiday dinner party given by a publicity-shy host and hostess at the chic Teresa Martin restaurant owned by Larry Boyland. Dec. 4th. Most important ingredient for a successful party is a good guest list: exchanging toasts under soft Christmas lighting, we saw ' among others. Thelma and Ed Yeager; Jane and Jim Owings: Jean and Wiley Christie ( in a green and red plaid cap); Ellie (Women's Civil Club and Frank Smith; Sidney and Dr. George Jones; and peg and Bill Schaffer.

Christmas House Tour AVALON - The Avalon Garden Club will hold a Christmas House Tour Monday. Dec. 16. All members. with their guests, are asked to meet at the Borough Hall at 1 p.m. to pick up their maps. The tour will end at Borough Hall, where there will be a Christmas Boutique. The Garden Club Christmas tree will be on display, and an English tea will be served. Children's Fete For Christmas AVALON — The annual recreation department children's Christmas partywill be held 1 p.m. Saturday. Dec. 21. Highlights of this event are making Christmas cards, tree decorations and a visit from Santa The party, for pre-schoolers through fourth grades, will be held at the Avalon CommunityHall. 30th and Avalon Avenues. Holly Ball AVALON - The Russ Patrick Orchestra will be in town Dec. 21 for the Holly Ball at the CommunityHall. The doors open at 8:30 p.m and music starts at 9. Reservations will be taken in advance from Avalon residents only; remaining seats will be open to the public. For reservations, call 967-3066
