Eagle Scouts Honored In Lower Ceremony

ERMA — Three eagle scouts were honored in ceremonies last Friday evening at Tabernacle Church Hall here. Troop #87 Scoutmaster James Coover of Cold Spring presented awards to Robert Calkins. William Cloer and James Marsden. Calkins is the son of Robert and Patricia Calkins of Cold Spring. A 1984 graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School, he was a member of the~wrestling team and the Ski Club. Calkins participated in a 4-H for nine years and was chosen Outstanding Boy of the Year in 1984. That year he also received the Lower Township Mayor's Award for outstanding civic contribution. He is presently employed by Westinghouse Group W Cable Company. Cloer. 17. is the son of William and Barbara Cloer of Erma. The valedictorian of his class at South Jersey Christian Academy. Cloer now attends Lower Cape May Regional, where he is

active in wrestimg, track and the literary magazine staff. He is also a member of the Student Council and the Key Club and is yearbook photographer. He was selected as an alternate for the Rotary Leadership Conference. Cloer does volunteer work for the South Jersey Christian Academy and is active with the youth group of Tabernacle Church. He has worked the past three summers at the Cold Spring Village Restaurant and plans to study history at Rutgers University. Marsden is the son of James and Charlotte Marsden of Erma and is a student at Lower Cape May Regional. He has received first place awards in art shows in Wildwood. North Wildwood, Stone Harbor. Avalon and Cape May in . the last three years. In 1983 Marsden was awarded a scholastic art award from the Philadelphia InquirerDaily News and the

Philadelphia College of Arts. He is active at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church and has been an assistant Sunday School teacher for three years. He has been an assistant back stage manager for the past four years at the Joanne Reagan Dance Recitals, where his brothers and sisters dance. This past summer he started his apprentice electrician training, working with his father. He plans to keep up his art studies and aspires to be a scoutmaster in the future.
