I ACC's Center Has New Services

RIO GRANDE — Spring I semester registration is ■ under way at Atlantic ComI munity College's Cape May I County Extension Center.

Cape May County residents can sign up for all ACC classes at the Cape May Center. Students can enroll in classes 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays until Jan 17. i The college will be closed Dec. 23 to Jan. 5. > A special, extended hours registration will be held 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday. Jan. 9. THOSE WHO will be taking a math or English class will need to take the Basic Skills Placement Test which will be offered 9 a m Jan. 11. m time in Cape May County ACC will offer classes in economics, literature, humanities, child care and real estate sales A total of 36 courses will be available in Cape May County this spring. Last semester, about 850 students enrolled in a total of 40 classes, up from 652 in 32 classes in fall 1984. SEVERAL NEW ser vices will be available at the center this semster. Tutoring in Math 105 and Developmental Math will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 6 p.m. Counseling will be available 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The college computer lab. featuring 17 IBM PCs. is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday when classes are not meeting in the room. For more information, call the center. 886-7189.

University Honor Paid To Soifer OCEAN CITY - Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania recently honored Mark Soifer. director of public relations for this city, by naming him Journalist- inResidence". Soifer was on campus Nov. 20-22 to meet with students and lead discussions about public relations. In presenting Soifer with the award. President Harry Ausprich noted that Soifer was honored for his "long and distinguished career in public relations, and for his assistance to the students in mass comm.unications at Bloomsburg University". SOIFER IS a journalism graduate of Temple University, where he was also on the university's baseball team. Following graduation, he spent two years in the Army: for his work in public information, he was honored by the commanding general of the 7th Corps. Germany. Soifer is also the recipient ol the "Pepperpot Award" of the Public Relations Society of America for the outstanding promotional campaign Among Soifer's campaigns which have attracted national attention are the Miss Crustacean contest, the Miscellaneous Sun Tan contest.
