CAPE MAY - In conjunction with the Vintage Homes Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and the Cape May Ministerium. the city had its annual tree-lighting ceremony Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Victorian Bandstand in the Rotary Park and at the Welcome Center. Evening activities included a city welcome by Mayor Arthur Blomkvest, a visit from Santa Claus, the lighting of two Christmas trees, Christmas carolling by Rev. Forrest Spriggs and Minette Rao Southard, the reading of The Night Before Christmas by Jay Schatz and finally carolling and refreshments at the Welcome Center.

AN ESTIMATED crowd of 300 area residents participated in this third annual celebration to bring in the holiday season. The principals were Sandy Miller, president of the Vintage Homes Assoc.; Rev. Forrest Spriggs, pastor of the Cape Island Baptist Church; Mayor Arthur Blomkvest; Tony Bevivino; Jerry Inderwies; Joe Estock; EdSherretta; Tom Carroll, president of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts. Also, Michael Zuckerman, director of Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts; John Dunwoody. president of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May; Jay Schatz, first vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, Minette Rao Southard, the Cape May Volunteer Fire Co. and the Civic Affairs staff. * j Christian Science ? CAPE MAY - Services , are held 11 a.m. Sunday in < the Community Center, 405 | Lafayette St., by the ChrisI tian Science of Cape May. " The subject of this ^ week's lesson will be "Is the Universe, Including i Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" All are welcome.
