SHOP AT HOME IN CAPE MAY COUNTY 1
Here's Dolly J tkr By Dolly Stango J
Don't forget. Candlelight Walk on the Washington Mall in Cape May is Thursday, Dec. 19. All evening long shops with candles in their walkways are serving wine and cheese, or coffee and cake, or cider and doughnuts. It's the merchant's way to say, "Thank you for shopping our Mall." And to make it easier for you, many shops are extending their hours until 9 every night through Christmas Eve. Santa will be on the Mall weekends distributing gifts to the children while listening to their requests for Christmas. THE CAPE MAY County Art League, located in the Carriage House on the Physick Estate. 1050 Washington St., Cape May, is waiting for you! A painting workshop is held every Tuesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee is nominal. Just bring your own sandwich and coffee or tea will be available. But do arrange to take advantage of this workshop. It's a chance not only to see some friends you haven't seen for a while but it's one enjoyable way to make new acquaintances. Don't forget, Tuesdays are usually "blah" days, so do come, bring your lunch and get together for some laughs and "tall tales" too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Julie Dilmore. mother of Freddy and Annemarie. All good wishes from dear godmother. Anita, and also from Julie's own husband. Bill. Also, happiest birthday to Susan Cardell. secretary to Jerry Inderwies (he's Assistant Superintendent of Public Works Dept. for City of Cape May). It's all set, Tuesday, Jan. 7. is the date for the dessert card and bingo party sponsored by the Altar and Rosary Society of Star of the Sea. Victorian Towers auditorium is the place, the time is noon. Mary Delany is chairperson of this event with a committee of Kay Hillegas. Teresa Banscher, Irma Plunkett. Anna Purgatorio. Betty MacMillan, Mary Coonan and Mae Lenoir. There'll be lots of homebaked goodies, for these ladies sure do know how to make delicious desserts. Of course, a Tombola Table. TOYS FOR Christmas: children of Star of the Sea School in Cape May are collecting toys to be given to the needy. A group in Wildwood known as the "Seasiders" will collect these toys and give them to children for Christmas. If you have any toys you can share, call the school at 884-4437. or stop in - it's Lafayette and Decatur Streets. Operation Fireside — Christmas is fast approaching and many of our Coast Guard recruits will not be able to leave the Base to go home. Won't you
open your hearts and your homes and invite these boys to have dinner and spend a few hours with your families at Christmas? For more information, call Gertrude Reiss. 884-1587 or leave a message at the Chapter Office, 465-7382 and your call will be returned. ALL GOOD wishes for a speedy recovery to Judy d'Orio (she's the new owner of Nina Scull's home along with Diane Fischer). Also to Ronald Trinest, Leslie Owens and baby Carla Jones. Want a quick snack? Try Ginger Paste Filling — 8 ounces cream cheese, 4 ounces pressed ginger (get in Acme) 1 shot of anisette and grated rind of one orange. Mix together until a smooth paste is formed and spread on brown bread!
