Wildwood Plantings Started

WILDWOOD - A group of Pacific Avenue businessmen and the city joined Dec. 10 to begin planting 150 Bradford Pear trees. The trees, purchased by the merchants who had initiated the first street festival, will line Pacific Avenue six blocks from Schellenger to Roberts Avenue. The merchants' objective is to re-establish

Pacific Avenue as an inviting shopping area and to help improve the image of the city. The store owners' plan to light the trees at Christmas time. As part of this objective, thoughts for the future also include installing benches on the sidewalks and changing store fronts. THE PROJECT was con ceived by Ben Laurielio. owner of the Quart Room. Mike Krippen. owner of ■*

Henry's Cafe, and about 30 other merchants. The trees are at least three years old and are 12 to 14 foot high. It is hoped that all trees will be planted by Jan. 1. According to Mayor Victor DiSylvester. "The city appreciates the commitment that our merchants have made, and I look forward to working with them on future projects." M M MA ■
