" Is Christmas, decoration, Christmas trees, cards, candles, carols and hearth i fires? Does Christmas de- \ pend on any of these things? Christmas is the celebra- ' tion of birth and rebirth. A

season of preparing. Almost 2,000 years ago, the birth of Jesus heralded the beginning of a new age in spiritual understanding and brought the gifts of love and light to a world long in darkness. FOR ALL ITS BOLD, bright promise of the new, Christmas also awakens within us the longing for home, for a return, if only in thought, to a place and a

time symbolic of love and belonging and well-being. At Christmas, more than 1 any other time, we long to experience the ideas that home represents. Does Christmas hold painful memories? Let this Christmas be your opportunity to build a fresh, a time to heal old hurts. The rebirth of Christ is the rebirth of love and always forgives, always heals, always comforts. As we enter into the Christmas season, we find that even our memories are renewed. They may not be actual and may not have occurred just as we remember. This is not important. Remembering events fills an emotional need in us. DO YOU LONG for the stability of a former time? Christmas can be exactly as we have always remembered it, or it can be something entirely new and different. What is the most important ingredient to a happy Christmas? Christmas memories are reflections of our own inner dreams and longings. You should realize that you have within you the fulfillment to every need through Christ. We have all joy, all peace, all serenity, all power; and can bring into this Christmas whatever we feel is essential. For each of you, it will be some- ^ thing different. a As for me, this Christmas, as always, will live in memory. Remembering our six children, tiny, sitting around the Christmas tree opening their presents. Running through die house getting ready for church and wanting to look their best. A full church pew entirely made of the Dramis Family with the smallest sleeping on her Daddy's lap. A pever forgotten scene. I WILL ALSO again look forward to a new year, a new beginning in Christ with all the promise which lies in His teachings. Good health, a loving family but most of all — to me — I will again pray for peace throughout this great nation. Pray that this, our country, will be the keystone in leading the way to follow the path shown by Him who we honor at this beautiful Christmas season.
