Sloan Dismisses Charges by Rival

AVALON - Mayor | , Rachel Sloan dismissed the j charges made by James H. ; Redditt who announced his • candidacy for Mayor of |Avalon in the recall elec- , j tion scheduled for Jan. 28. "Mr. Redditt is mis1 informed concerning the .issues of the building moratorium of July 1983 and subsequent improvements to the sewer 'plant". Mayor Sloan said. family through the holiday season. FIRST AND foremost, avoid having a dry tree (one on which the needles are a dull grayish green color, have lost their elasticity, and no longer ooze fragrant pitch when crushed) in the home. That means — get a fresh tree by cutting your own or by carefully inspecting the stock at a roadside stand. Short-needled spruces and firs and long-needled pines are often chosen. Do not be shy about shaking out trees which have been wrapped with string or netting — their shape will become apparent, and you can check for falling needles — a sure sign of a dry tree.
