Cheerleaders Vie For Cape Honors

ERMA — The annual Cape May County Cheerleading Competition was held Nov. 23 at Lower Cape May Regional High School, hosted by the Lower Township Raider Cheerleaders. The teams represented were: Middle Township Panthers, coached by Dawn Smearman; Wildwood Islanders, coached by Faith McNeal; Ocean City Skyhawks, coached by Michele McCauley; Ocean City Hawks and the Ocean City Pep Club, coached by Marianne Neall; Upper Township Warriors, coached by Marianne Allegretto; Upper Township Indians and the Upper Township Pep Squad, coached by Susan Morgan; and the Lower Townshp Raiders, coached by Mary Calfina and Kathy Butler.

THE JUDGES for the competition were from the Metropolitan Cheerleading Judges Association from Ocean County. The announcer was Bruce DiNardo, president of the Cape May County Football League. In the pee-wee division. Ocean City Skyhawks cheered to a second place victory. For the seventh straight year, the Upper Township Warriors were the pee-wee champions. In the midget division, a girl from each squad was chosen to do a single cheer routine. Upper Township's Kim Jeffers was the winner. The midget squads also did a dance routine. Lower Township Raiders danced to a second place, while the Upper Township Indians took first place for dance.

In the cheering portion the Upper Township Indians took second place. 111 IB Q. You have issued me a Social Security number under two different names. The Lower Township Raiders cheered their way to firs tplace honors. Cape Club Volleyball Runner-up The Jersey Cape Volleyball Club made its debut in sanctioned U.S. Volleyball Association action a successful one, finishing as runner-up in competition at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. The Cape club finished at the top of its pool in opening round robin play with a 7-1 record, then drew a bye in the quarter finals. It won with ease in two games against Livingston in the semi-finals. IN THE FINALS, the local club took on the Ringwood club, former Golden Masters National Champions and lost two close contests, 15-10 and I 15-12. I Jersey Cape was spon- I sored in the tournament by I Bob Jackson's Surf Fishing 1 Tours. The team included Rick and Ted Ferrante. Bill Abadie. Jerry Miller. Bill Arnold, Roy Hartie. Bill Holt, Bob Jackson, and Pete Kakoy annis.
