Grants Available For County Groups i COURT HOUSE - A good portion of the annual block grant received by the county Cultural and Heritage Commission from '' the New Jersey State Council on the Arts is redistributed to local arts organizations. In 1985 four sub-grants were awarded for: Special Projects at tfu; Cape May County Library - storytelling event, the Cape May County Department on Aging - Art Seminars with instruction for the senior community, and Avalon Performing Arts Committee for two productions. One grant was awarded the Jersey Cape Performing Arts Guild for general operating support to allow it to upgrade its advertising and general operating I procedures. THESE AWARDS are given on a 50/50 matching basis and fall into two categories: Special Project - maximum award $750. and General Operating Support - maximum award $2,500 and are geared to the needs of arts organizations based in Cape May County or with a specific Cape May County-oriented project. Grant applications for 1986 are now available in the Office of the Commission. The deadline for submission of this application is March 14. Stop in the office, located within the Planning Board Suite of the County Library Office Building, or phone Commission Administrator Nancy L. O'Lone at 465-7111 ext. 419. This is the council's second year participating in the State County Partnership Block Grant Program. It offers an opportunity for organizations to expand their programs Pre-school classes Extended CAPE MAY - The city's Pre-School Activity Hour will be extended to five days a week starting in the Winter Recreation Schedule The class will be an exercise and activity course for children, and each class will follow a central theme with activities that will include games and arts and craffe. The class will be held Monday through Friday 9:45 to, 11 a.m. at the Franklin Street Civic Center beginning Jan. 6. It is open to all pre-schoolers age 2 to 5 in the county.
