Dining & Entertainment =f iflfc Guide M By I.ibby Pemp Forrest i IT'S TIME FOR COURSES, crafts and (seed) catalogs, to pleasantly pass the hours of a long winter day or evening. Of course, the hours of daylight are lengthening again — so take heart those of you who take no cheer from the months of winter. Now it is time to^efsevere with homey tasks and qui$ enterprises, with wting out the bills and checks from last year to figure out/what the tax man will be wanting. Better to start figuring now before the April 15th when spring will be tempting us. ^ We have to admit to falling into a winter reverie this time of year. We are reluctant to put away the Christmas things. The old Santas on the mantle give us a bit of cheer on a cold winter night, and the Christmas wreath on the front door makes for a fragrant welcome when we come into the house at the end of the working day. WE LIKE NOTHING BETTER this time of year than to curl up with a good book, the knees covered with a lap blanket. Would you believe we keep four lap blankets in the living room so that visiting guests can feel cozy during a pleasant chat. While winter can be exasperating, it also has some pleasures. Elating out is fun anytime of year, but during January you don't have to stand in a line to get a seat. And the winter atmosphere in a restaurant has a special appeal to us. Here are some appealing restaurants we'd like to recommend this week : CANAL 42. A fresh fish restaurant that prepares everything to order. Canal 42 and 42nd and Bay, Sea Isle City knows how to put the gourmet touch on every selection. Only the freshest of seafoods are ever served at Canal 42. carefully chosen froTn the local fishing boats. There are early bird weekday specials that cost a low $6.95, always worth investigating when you want to step out for dinner. Canal 42 also offers excellent pasta, with tangy homemade sauce. Land lubbers will find that Canal 42 keeps ample choices for them too BONANZA. The pleasant atmosphere always makes Bonanza a good choice for a friendly family meal every season of the year. Located at the southern end of the Garden State Parkway at Ocean Drive, Bonanza offers family night Tuesdays when children 12 and under eat free with an adult purchase. The kiddy burger platter offers them their own special-sized meal they're sure to enjoy. Bonanza offers steak, chicken, seafood and salad, all made from fresh ingredients that are just, right for relaxed dining out. Look for the Bonanza steak coupon in this week's paper, offering a specially priced steak you'll want to sink your teeth into. FLANDERS. Come for brunch this Sunday at The Flanders Hotel, llth. and Boardwalk. Ocean City and enjoy an array of delicious eggs, any style you choose, plus lots more. \ There's hot cakes, bacon, sausage, seafood newburg. i quiche, roast beef, chicken a la king, fresh fruit, salad bar, assorted crepes, fresh pastries, juices, desserts and much, much more, all for $12.50 per person. Of course. The Flanders never closes — the doors year round. You can expect the same gracious service and hospitality that The Flanders has been noted for generation after generation. KIM MOON. Enjoy the touch of the Orient when you dine at Cape May's Kim Moon. located at No. 7 Victorian Village Plaza, next to the Acme. Open Monday -Thursday from 11.30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 :30a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., you'll find every favorite Chinese dish you can imagine, each prepared quickly and brought to your table sizzling hot.
