Avalon ( Finally ) Pictis A Prize-Winning Slogan

AVALON - At Last! I After six months and < three deadlines, the recrea- ! tion department here finally picked a slogan "zippy" enough to grace the 30th Street sign motorists see when departing town. And the winner is... "Try Avalon as a First Resort." Rio Grande reisdent Charles Mathis won a $50 savings bond for this zinger, one of 57 entries the borough received after announcing the contest last July. TTie former sign said "Good Bye, Good Luck, . Winners Announced COURT HOUgE - The Middle Township Recreation Department named the winners of its Christma: house decorating contest last Friday. Judges Gre » Arnold, director of the department, and Carl Baker, recreation committee chairman, picked winners in three categories: Mist Traditional. the Spirit of Christmas and Children's Choice. Gary and Bei Rudy of Rio Grande woi for Most Traditional ; An l Schofeild of Green Creel* for the Spirit of Chris mas; and Gloria and Anthony Cipollona of Gieen Creek for Children's C loice. Two honorable mentions were awarded to Louise Garrison of Bufleigh and Sandra Clinger of Avalon Manor. Arnold said liis department will deliver trophies to the winners. Committee Meetings In Middle COURT HOUSE - Meetings of the Middle Township Committee will be held 8 p.m. tJne first and third Thursdays of each month, it has been announced by George H. Simpkins township jclerk. Next regular meeting will be Thursday. Jan. 16. Work session meetings will be held 3 p.m. the day before the regular meeting. Lone exceptions to the schedule are Npv. 19 and 20, when there will be no work sessions and no regular meeting. All sessions will be Held in the meeting room of the Municipal Hall,! Boyd and Mechanic Streets.
