Churches Observing 'Sancity Sunday'
Local Christians will join thousands of congregations throughout ^the United States Jart. 19 'in observance of Sancity of Human Life Sunday, a nation-wide effort to focus attention on the legalization of abortion by the U.S. Supreme Court in its Roe vs. Wade decision in i 1973. I According to Joyful Noise Community Pastor, Rod Girgan, local Sancity coordinator. "As Christian citizens, thought and prayer will be given toward the almost 20 million children who have died as a tragic result of that horrendous decision, in spite of the law of God which states "Thou shalt not kill", and the law of the land which states that "All men have been endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights", the first of which is the rigvht to life itself. Although participating churches represent a wide spectrum of theological thought, there is in this issue a common mind and purpose through the teaching of Christ himself, that His disciples sfiow mercy to the afflicted and provide justice for the oppressed, the pastor said.
