County CCC Alumni Feted by College

| VINELAND - Seven a Cape May County residents t were among 15 V Cumberland County Colr lege graduates recently » honored during the second ' annual Alumni of the [ Month banquet held at the } Windjammer Restaurant ^ in Vineland. Those cited included • Rina Terry, Nancy McDermott. A1 Thomas Jr.. Maj. Larry Dalton, Jeffrey April, Esq., Pasquale Visalli and Chris Mason. "We are extremely pleased with the accomplishments of our Cape May County graduates." CCC President Dr. Philip S. Phelon said at the ceremony. "They are a primary source of pride for the college." AFTER GRADUATION from CCC, Terry, a Tuckahoe resident, earned with highest honors a

bachelor's degree in pyschology/creative writing from Stockton State College in 1981. She has worked as a continuing education coordinator for the Garden and Shore Area Health Education Centers. At CCC. Terry was editor of L'Esprit, the college literary magazine. She was selected as the top humanities student during her sophomore year, and she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Who's Who Among American Junior College Students. McDERMOTT. electronic media claims representative for Prudential Insurance Co., graudated from CCC in 1977. The Marmora resident has also obtained a bachelor's degree in bio- ( medical communications from Stockton and a master's degree in

business adminisration from Monmouth College. Thomas, of Ocean View, enrolled at CCC in 1969, the year the Agriculture/Ornamental Horticulture program was implemented at the college. After attending CCC, Thomas worked for a few years as a landscape designer. TODAY. THOMAS manages 52,000 square feet of greenhouse area. Along with six employes, he grows poinsettias, Eastep lilies and other ornamental flowers. Dalton, of Cold Spring, is chief of base services for the New Jersey Air National Guard in Pomona. In addition to a law enforcement associate's degree at CCC. Dalton has earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Glassboro State College and has completed

graduate courses at the University of Virginia through the FBI Academy. April of Sea Isle City has the distinction of receiving the second diploma issued by CCC. In 1968, he was a member of the first graduating class and, because diplomas were issued in alphabetical order, he was second in line at commencement. AFTER EARNING a \ bachelor's degree and a ' master's degree at West Virginia University, April attended law school at Suffolk University, graduating with honors in 1974. The alumnus operates a law office in Marmora, and is the attorney for the City of Somers Point and the Township of Dennis. Visalli of Wildwood Crest is executive general manager of Mar Lane, Inc. in Wildwood. He oversees operations arseveral properties in the area, including the Mar Land Motel. After graduating from CCC in 1971, Visalli transferred to Shephard College in Shephardstown, W. Va., where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. After Mason of Belleplain graduated from CCC's nursing program in 1970, she worked in the maternity ward of Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Today, she works at Dr. W.R. Cavagnaro's office in Woodbine.

Rec Center Plans Trips WILDWOOD - Several trips for senior citizens are planned by the Wildwood Rec Center in the next few months, beginning with a trip to Winterthur in Delaware Wednesday, 9 a.m. Feb. 12 from the center on Rio Grande Avenue. A cafeteria style lunch will be available. For reservations, call $22-5837. Also planned is a trip Wednesday, March 26. to historic New Hope, PA. The bus will leave the Rec Center at 9 a.m. and will return at suppertime. Future trips include a winery tour April 18 and a tour of Learning's Run Gardens, Swainton, May 14.
