I hope it doesn't happen again, but I assure you, it wasn't my fault. I was swamped by phone calls, plus being stopped everywhere r went; church, the Acme, the cleaners, restaurants and ' social visits. All wanted to know what happened to this column. Thank you for your kind 'phone calls and interest. Now I know how many friends I do have! Some time back I mentioned about the young boy whose identity we did not know. What we did know was how he helped Bob Janifer when the electric saw he was using suddenly jumped and cut his arm so badly it required over 50 stitches. NOW WE KNOW the young man is Bobby Norris, only 13. a student at Teitelmen School aqd a resident of Broad Street Court, Cape May. Bobby happened to be passing by on his bike, saw the accident and ran to help. He took off Janifer's trouser belt and under directions proceeded to wrap it tightly around the cut arm to help stop the bleeding. H even waited until the Rescue Squad ambulance came. Doctors at the hospital say the quick action to curtail the loss of blood was responsible for keeping the arm intact. You're a hero, Bobby Norris. and we salute your courage and quick thinking, plus wanting to stop and help a person in need. You'll be getting a reward
from Janifer — and he says he'll never forget you. IT'S CANCELLED! The Bingo Dessert Card Party sponsored by the ladies of the Altar and Rosary Society of Star of the Sea. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4, it's now going to be Tuesday, March 4. A casino bus being run the same day at the Victorian Towers would have made it difficult. Now it's all set for Tuesday. March 4, at the Towers. Of course there'll be the usual delicious homebaked goodies and prizes galore. She's home from the hospital, and everyone is so happy for her. She's none other than Judy d'Orio (she's co-owner with Diane Fischer of the Nina Scull House in Cape May). Judy had so many prayers going for her — how could she miss! All good wishes go to Judy and her smiles tell you it's all appreciated. HAPPY. HAPPY Birthday to Rosemary Stumpo. and now that I know the date I'll be sure to mention it here always. Never saw anyone so anxious, she's 65 years young, but that's Gladys Tobin; our very best wishes and all the trimmings. Also to Shirley Stiles of Stiles Taxi Service and Whitehouse Inn... age surely doesn't show on Shirley as she drives that limousine around.
IN MEMORIAM: Joseph A. Ward — he's referred to as a "caring" man and most of us will remember Joe as the tireless worker to improve health care for area residents, his efforts to bring more doctors to us all. He was the leader of the county's arthritis foundation. Just a person always thinking of others, and surely an uphill battle to help the elderly. He was also the organizer of "Friends of Burdette". I could go on and on. As a close friend of Joe's, reading all the literature he would send me, I cannot j help but say his untimely I passing has indeed left a terrible void. It's now official. The City of Cape May Housing Authority has a newly formed inspection committee who will be responsible for going through all units now occupied. Tenants will be notified when their places will be inspected, starting 4:30 p.m. Wed., Feb. 5. Subsequent dates will be set up, with all tenants being properly notified so that all units will be ultimately inspected for proper maintenance, etc. in accordance with lease requirements. DON'T FORGET to take advantage of the free lecture series on the History of Christianity at Our LadyStar of the Sea Church. It's every Monday and Wednesday 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. by Professor A. Randazzo (formerly with Holy Fami-
ly College, Immaculata College, Temple University and LaSalle College.
