CAPE MAY - The fifth annual Tulip Festival will be celebrated here Saturday, April 26 through Thursday, May 1. In celebration of the city's Dutch heritage — Cape May was discovered by Dutch explorer Cornelius Jacobsen Mey — thousands of tulip bulbs have been planted throughout the city. and a weeklong schedule of festivities has been planned. On the weekends, special concerts are planned by the Hoffnagle Road. In addition. young people dressed in folk costumes of Holland, including lace hats and wooden shoes, will entertain with demonstrations of Klompendansing. the traditional Dutch folk dance in wooden shoes, and straatwassen. the Dutch custom of washing the streets. ALSO ON the weekends, the Tulip-Festival King and Queen will be crowned and will parade through town on an old-fashioned trolley.

Winners in the tulip garden < contests will be announced, i and tours of the most t noteworthy gardens will be 1 offered. c Especially featured will 1 be Dutch foods, including ( hot Dutch chocolate, apple fritters, and Dutch wurst with sauerkraut. Bedding plants and potted tulips will also be available for sale as well as wooden shoes in a variety of sizes. IN ADDITION, a new crafts show. "Crafts at Tulip Time", sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts for the benefit of the summer stage program, will be held Saturday. April 26 in Congress Hall, one of Cape May's grand Victorian hotels. Seventy master crafts people from throughout the Northeast will display their wares and demonstrate their skills at this juried crafts show. April 28 through May I, the garden clubs and other organizations of Cape May will provide special Tulip festival activities, including garden tours and lectures, demonstrations , on bulb-growing, and films Trump Trip CAPE MAY - The Greater Cape May Little League is sponsoring a bus trip to Trump Plaza.
