Kiwanis Drops 1st, ^ Needles Gets Tie

CAPE MAY - In Youth Basketball action, the Kiwanis Club lost its first game of the season 12-8 to First Jersey National Bank/South. Tony Norris had 8 points with Jamar Ross scoring 4 points for victorious First Jersey. Sol Needles Agency moved into a tie for first place by deteating Roth's Real Estate 20-14. Dave Flickinger and Billy Ackley scored 8 points apiece. Keltie News moved above the 500 mark with a 26-16 victory over Axelsson and Johnson. Mike Millard scored 18 points. IN SENIOR Division play. Casale's Shoes behind Matt Dean's 21 points and Tommy Johnson's 18, beat the Montreal Inn 59-39. Jose Elliot scored 13 points. Washington Inn played its best game of the year in defeating Model Cleaners 50-34. Washington Inn was

led by Chris Mazurek. with 14 points, and Kevin Freeman with 12. Tommy Reid led Model Cleaners with 18 points. Eckel's Has Sweep in Volleyball CAPE MAY - Eckel's Diesel maintained its lead in Men's Recreation i Volleyball as it swept past the Cape May Mobile Estate 15-6, 15^ and 15-11. Eckel's was led by agr gressive spikes of Mike Moore and the all around court play of Jim Counihan. National Associates stayed in playoff contention as it took all three games from Pete's Racquet Club 15-4, 15-2 and 15-12. Highlight performers included Bob Mullock. (Ireg Arnold, and Bud Keen. In other matches, the Coast Guard Breakers took two of three games from Burke Builders, 15-8, 13-15 and 15-8. Signing Up For Soccer SEA ISLE CITY -Registration for soccer competition is being held by the city at the Community Center for youngsters 6-14 (birth year 1972-79). A parent must accompany the child to registration and there is a small fee. Each child must have a birth certificate. The schedule for registration is: 6:30-8 p.m. tomorrow; 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday. Feb. 23. and same time Thursday. Feb. 27 Dennis Seniors OCEAN VIEW - Gail Mackler-Carlino of the Prudential Insurance Co. will be the guest speaker at the meeting of the Dennis Township Seniors 1 p.m. March 5 at the Ocean View Fire Hall. Seniors 55 and over are welcome. SIC Hosts Fingerprint Program SEA ISLE CITY - Officer McGruff, in the person of an officer from the county Sheriff's Department, and three officer helpers recently visited the Sea Isle Public School and St. Joseph's Regional School as part of the ongoing "Fingerprints on File" program. Students were invited by the canine copper to "take a bite out of crime" The "buddy" system was explained and the youngsters were given other tips. Included was the importance of telling parents or babysitters where they're going when they leave the house for play, as well as knowing their addresses, and telephone numbers, particularly the area code. Each child was given an envelope containing his/her fingerprints and a brochure of safety tips for parents.
