SPORTS by SUE McKinley Lady Panthers Clinch Second Straight Title

The Middle Township Lady Panthers moved into first place with a strong hold on the Cape Atlantic League (CAL) title. The Panthers downed Wildwood 50-36 to boost it's record to 15-1 in the conference, 19-4 overall. The one-two punch of Michelle Greenwaldt and Bev Grant sparked Middle with 20 and 14 points respectively. Judy Eckerson paced the Raiders with 22 counters and 10 boards, while Miller added 13 points to the cause. Rosanne Casbarrow tallied 15 for Millville. The Panthers clinched a 65-63 win over Wildwood after a six point deficit at the half. Mike Watkins and Eddie Bryan collected 15 each for Middle while Dion Coley added 12. Paul Franco led the Warriors with 17. Middle also downed Lower Cape May 66-46. Watkins and Bryan hit for 15 apiece while Maurice Hubbard added 14 points and 10 assists. Mark Powell covered 400 meters in four minutes and 46 seconds. ** Mary Garret and jftmio , Harrington took second and third, respectively, for the winners while Rob Astle took the 100 meter freestyle. Astle also won the 200 meter medley for the Raiders. ON THE MATTS it was Lower Cape May over Wildwood 61-3, Ocean Cityover Bridgeton 44-22 and Lower Cape May over Cumberland 36-19. Six forfeits and five wins gave the Capers an easy victory over Wildwood Wildwood's only winner was iPelc Meyer, who downed Jesse Matsinger 4-3. For Ocean City.
