x Dining & Entertainment ,5 88 ' By Libby Drmp Forrest <±r^> SPRINGTIME, day by day. is starting to take the upper hand. While winter is getting the boot, that blustery season is still reluctant to leave, but weakening its' hold every day. This past Sunday was fine evidence of awakening springtime with people anxious to get out and about. Bird lovers are looking for new arrivals. While our own knowledge of birding is limited, we always feel a great lift when we observe the first robin hopping out on the lawn or the backyard. The early spring songs of the birds now greet the morning and ... oh. our spirits soar at the sound. Don't yours? THERE'S ALWAYS the momentum of March win^s -* and while they can be brisk, they also help to clear ttfe atmosphere of particles of dust and moisture. This gives us especially clear skies in March and on cloudless nights the March stars are brilliant. We call the brightest of our stars, first magnitude stars. This week, on any clear evening at eight o'clock, we can see at least eight first magnitude stars and at least one of the bright planets, Venus or Jupiter, Mars or Saturn. i If you look at the sky before sunrise now. you will see a set of star groups which are entirely different from those we see in the evenings. Next summer they will be our evening constellations. Now that we've brought you up to date on the nature calendar, you're probably all ready to go out and enjoy yourself. Here are some dining spots where having a good time is always assured : SUMMERS. Just the name alone says it all at Summers Restaurant and Bar which opens Friday for the 1986 season. Located at one of the town's most noted intersections, at the corner of Beach and Decatur Streets, Cape May, Summers not only quells the appetite for excellent luncheon and brunch specialties, but during the dinner hours as well. The atmosphere fits the period decor with a distinctive shore flavor, and Chris Sooy Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. will make the evening come alive with great swinging music. Luncheon and brunch specialties are served Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. Partake of a pleasing dinner Friday and Saturday night. You'll find great times, great food and great music at Summers this springtime. HENNY'S. Stone Harbor's famous Henny's Restaurant and Lounge is always the 'in' spot for celebrating any season, any occasion, any special event. The St Patrick's Day Party is always an exhilirating happening — and | we're looking forward to the big party on Thursday, March 13th. There'll be a special Irish menu, party hats, Irish music featuring Three Cheers from 6:00 to 11 :00 p.m. If you'll be wearin' the green or not. come out for a great evening and a great lot of fun. Reservations are suggested for this most festive evening — call 368-2929. « LA TOQUE. It seems that only yesterday one had to wait until the summer to enjoy a gourmet meal in the Victorian City, but La Toque, at 210 Ocean Street, Cape May has made fine dining a year round happening. Now a respectable as well as very affordable French restaurant, La Toque is similar in locale and culinary skills to the bistros along the French Bank. You can expect a very impressive meal for much less than you would expect to pay in Philly or Washington or New York. Open weekends, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Friday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Just as in any small bistro, seating is not unlimited, so reservations are suggested. You can dress casually yet dine on outstanding French selections. If you carry along your own wine or spirits, we suggest you may want to let out your flair and pretend you're making a selection from a prominent wine cellar. Make your reservations early by calling 884-1511 and you're all set for a great evening
