By NEIL WHITEHKAH A VACUUM CLEANER IS YOUR CARPETS BEST FRIEND Without a vacuum cleaner, your carpet's life expectancy would be greatlv reduced. Frequent, even daily vaccuming is better for your carpet than prolonged periods between cleanings. Dirt and debris on the carpet should be cleaned up as soon as possible and not allowed to he ground into the carpet. Vacuuming can remove almost any type of dirt on the surface of carpets, such is lint, hair thread, string, sewing room scraps, and lood and tohbacco particles with little difficulty Fine particles such is face powder, tobacco ish and light dust are aLso usually removed easily by vacuum cleaning But il heavy traffic grinds these substances into the carpet, you mav have to spend a longer time vacuuming than you usually do. Sticky or greasy substances such is cooking fats, beverages, tar and oil. hold dirt particles together and cause them to cling tightly to pile fibers and yams, is well is to the hacking of the carpet Vacuuming ma;- help, but in time, shampooing the carpet will best restore its appearance. No one can deny the importance of vacuum cleaners, hut how do you decide which one is right for you? The canister and the upright are the two main types of vacuum cleaners. Canisters are different from uprights in, that the suction nozzle is connected to the main cleaner body by a flexible hose, several feet long. The cleaner body houses the motor/tan system and the dust collecting apparatus. I'pnghts are consolidated, containing the- nozzle, motor, fan. and dust collecting medium within the cleaner body The motorized elements of each vary in design from manufacturer to manufacturer, but can be divided into two main types, the rotating brush roll and the rotating agitator. Each cleans the carpet by creating a disturbance of the pile in order to remove litter and soil. But the agitator, becaase of its beater-bars, is considered to the most effective means of vacuuming the carpet AVALON CARPET, TILE AND FLOORING > WAREHOUSE OUTLET CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE HAND AVE & THE RAILROAD MON.-F8I. 8:00-5:00 P.M. - SAT. 8:30 TO 5 465-3051
