SJCA Open House For Kindergarten
ERMA — Parents intending to enroll their children in a kindergarten in September, 1986. are invited to a public Kindergarten Open House at South Jersey Christian Academy 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25. The open house is designed to introduce parents to what SJCA Kindergarten has to offer their children. The gathering will include a general introduction to the kindergarten program, and a question and answer session with James Thrash, principal, and Mrs. Kay Anderson, kindergarten teacher.
THE KINDERGARTEN program at SJCA is heavily geared toward meeting the individual child's needs. The •'Character Curriculum" is used and is oriented toward developing Christian character traits in each child The whole program is conducted within a family-oriented environment designed to foster a favorable self-image in each boy and girl, as well as solid spiritual and academic growth. SOUTH JERSEY Christian Academy is an interdenominational K-8 evangelical Christian elementary school, with faculty and students from a variety of church backgrounds. It is located in the Tabernacle Church complex at Tabernacle and Seashore Roads, but is operated independently of that church. It is governed by a school board consisting of parents, pastors, business and professional people, retirees and homemakers. The men and women of the school board are also from various church backgrounds THE SCHOOL neither promotes nor teaches any one denomination's doctrinal viewpoint. It does hold that the Bible is God's authoritative Wdrd. and that it must be related to all aspects of a child's life, include learning. The school's regular teachers are all college graduates. There is a systematic program Of testing, beginning at the time of admission, and continuing through the annual administration of the California Achievement Test (CAT). Last May. SJCA Kindergarteners' scores on the Open House The Cape May Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses invite friends and neighbors to their Open House program at 6 p.m. Saturday. Open House will be one hour, followed by one-half hour slide program of the building project, and concluding with a dedication talk "Builders To The Praise of Jehovah" by Mr. Underwood from Bethel. New York. First UMC, Cape May CAPE MAY - Sunday School classes for all ages begin at 9:45 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, followed by the morning worship service at 1 1 . This service is broadcast live over WSJL. Each Tuesday a Bible study is held at 10 a.m. in sLyle Hall. Lenten Study groups will meet 7:30 p. m March 20 and 25. A communion service will be held 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday and on Good Friday the service will be from noon to 3 p.m. with the area churches participating. Palm Sunday AVALON - Palm Sunday services will be held at the Avalon Methodist Church 11 a.m. Sunday. Included will be distribution of palms and nursery care Sunday School for all ages is 9:45 a.m.
CAT were an average of 19 percent above the national average for Pre-Reading Readiness, and 10 percent above average in math readiness I YOUNGSTERS attending SJCA's kindergarten must be five years old by Oct. 31. There are no church membership eligibility requirements for admittance. Most of the school's students come from households with at least one Christian parent or guardian, although this is not a necessity. Anyone desiring further information on the open house can call Thrash at 884-1 100.
