SPORTS by SUE McKinlev Lady Warriors Capture First Basketball Title
The Lady Warriors of Wildwood High School captured their first South Jersey title every by defeating Kingsway 40-36 in the final clasn last Friday. When the contest began, the Dragons and six busloads of noisy fans rattled the Warriors for a 10-4 first quarter lead. Ann Turner scored the only Wildwood buckets in that stanza while the Warriors turned the ball over 10 times. Turner excelled for six more points in the second period and Wildwood cut the turnovers down to four, but Kingsway still led 20-14 at the half. THE THIRD QUARTER was introduced with a sharp Rose Hall delivery to Turner to cut the gap to 20-16. Wildwood finally knotted the score at 22-22 with another

Marcea Huemer, took on the pressure at the Peddie School in Hightstown to help capture the school's sixth straight title at the NJISWAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championships. At Wildwood high school, where there is no swim Huemer was like a fish out of water. Although the transfer to has been an uphill struggle academically, has consistently her grades to the category and her swimming times into the winning category. As a freshman, Huemer state prep champ in the ■ 50 and second in the IOC freeI style. Last year she won the 200 and 100. This year she repeated her wins in the 50 It looks as if Marcea will someday be than just another fish in the sea.

Cape May , SCUBA Class CAPE MAY - A nationally certified SCUBA course will again be offered by the city in its 1986 spring recreation schedule. The class will consist of 32 hours of instruction plus two final dives. It will give the student a proper introduction to equipment use and the ocean environment. Upon completion students will receive a certificate and a card verifying a passing effort. ' The class begins Tuesday, March 25, in the Elementary School pool 6:30-10:30 p.m. Those interested are urged to call the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-8411 Gymnastics Set For Youngsters CAPE MAY - A gymnasties program for ages 5-14 will be part of the city 's spring recreation schedule beginning Thursday. March 27. This program, geared toward beginners and intermediate students, it includes extensive mat work and use of the balance beam. The program is held at the Franklin Street Civic Center with 5-7 year-old students going 4-5 p.m. Ages 8-14 participate 5-6 p.m. Call the Department of Civic Affairs at 884-8411 for more information.
