Sea Isle City Hikes Tax Rate by 15 Cents
• SEA ISLE CITY'S assessed valuation climbed by $16.7 million last year to $532,912,050. Its proposed 1986 budget is up by $725,436, or 15.1 percent, to $5,529,253. The amount to be raised by local taxes increased $878,240 to $3,633,446. That means a tax rate increase of 15 cents per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. bringing -ttortotal tax rate to 68 cents. Taxes on a property assessed at $100,000 would increase $150. to $680 The city finished 1985 with a $835,259 surplus and will use $420,000 of it in the proposed 1986 budget and carry over the remainder. Among other anticipated
budget revenues are:/ • $325,000 from beach fees, a $25,000 increase. • 275,000 from franchise"8 and gross receipt taxes, a $6,000 increase. • $50,000 from fees and permits, a $10,000 increase. Among anticipated budget appropriations are: • $1,755,245 for salaries I and wages, a $293,261 increase. • $108,000 for street lighting, a $9,900 increase. • $108,000 for garbage removal, a $9,900 increase. • $22,200 for shore protection, a $10,200 increase. City Commission will hold a public hearing on the budget 7 p.m. on April 3.
j School Sets Open House The Cape May County Christian School will hold ila annual open house Monday and Tuesday, April 7 and 8, 10-11:30 a.m. Parents are invited to visit and observe classrooms during teaching time.
