Daffy Doings Due At DooDah Parade

OCEAN CITY — Anyone who has been waiting for years to see a Band Aid and Cotton Swab Drill Team or a Pizza Tossers Brigade, hang in there until April 19. This city's first annual DooDah Parade will provide the above attractions and much more. Billed as a method of "letting off steam" following tax filing season, the Doo-

Dah march will feature approximately 50 units of beleaguered federal taxpayers living out their fun fantasies. THE PARADE begins noon at 6th and As bury Avenue, proceeds on As bury to 12th Street, then moves to the Boardwalk and concludes at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace. Grand Marshal W. Scott

Anderson, father of Eastern DooDah, will be transported along the route on a Rico Aerial Lift, which will move him up, dbwn and sideways so adoring throngs can see him to best advantage. Anderson is the visionary who first imported the parade from California to Pitman and then sponsored it for two years. He is acting as consultant for the Ocean City event. THE PARADE director. Clint Campbell, is pleased with participant response. "Who would have thought we would have a Precision Beach Chair Drill Team or the Friendly Order of Raccoons of Philadelphia right here in Ocean City?" he marveled. The Ocean City Exchange Club will marshal the i parade and keep units like the 55th Street Meri's Club Pooper Scooper Brigade and the American Tourister Marching Band and Synchronized Suit case Drill Team in line. THEY WILL also have to contend with such groups as the Beach Blanket Beauties of Bloomsburg University, the Kitchen Connection Pots and Pans Brigade and the Ocean City Art Center Smock and Palette Drill Team. An array of semicelebrities have agreed to I accompany the units. These include Martin Z. Mollusk. the city's weather predicting Hermit Crab. Gus the Amazing Weather Dog of Radio Station WSLT, who predicts a "four -paw day" for the march, RICH the Robot of Resorts International Hotel and Casino. Fire Fly Flo from Idaho and others who will be dragged in from the street corners. MUSICAL UNITS include the Ocean City High School Band, which will lead the event, the South Jersey String Band, which placed fifth in the Mummers Parade, Bill Bruestle and the Sunshine Boys, a banjo band and the Nas Breeks Bagpipe Band. Many of the Brigades will have their own music for synchronized marching and haphazard dancing. First to enter were the Friendly Order of Raccoons Philadelphia Chapter, a group devoted to insuring that re-runs of Jackie Glea son's "Honeymooners" is how is kept on TV. The parade will be preceded by a 10 a.m. race to the Post Office for those tardy in returning their income tax forms.
