COLD SPRING - Students at both Maud 1 Abrams School and Consolidated participated in the Lower Township "Adopt a Pupil" Program. During this session one sixth grade class designed

an Easter Egg Hunt and demonstrated science experiments for the first grade. During the initial stages of "Adopt a Pupil" older children adopted each first grader as a younger brother or sister. The goals of the program were: to have children participate as both teacher and learner in the educational process,

Wetlands Post Goes To Light AVALON — Borough Councilman Richard B. Light has been elected to serve a three-year term on the board of trustees at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor. "Light has been very importantly involved in our annual Wines and Water Festival ana has done a great job coordinating institute activities in Avalon over the past few years," said Dr. Roger Wood, president of the board. In other council matters, President Pauline Petri ca and Councilwoman Jeannette Glazier recently received recognition for participating in a statewide program on the branches of municipal government sponsored by Rutgers University THE PROGRAM, entitl- 1 ed "Powers and Duties of the Municipal Governing Body", was held at Glassboro State College over a five-week period and covered such topics as the sunshine law and responsibilities of the municipal clerk, solicitor and engineer. "The program gave us a better understanding of the facets involved in municipal government and helped us see in depth what each department is responsible for," Glazier said.

Program On Fires WILDWOOD - Three Wildwood Fire Department officers lectured the students of Glenwood Avenue School on fire safety recently. Capt. Len Lauriello, Lieut. Larry Lilloand Lieut. Bill Davenport showed fire prevention films, talked about smoke detectors had the students demonstrate "Stop, drop and roll", and had them report fires over the telephone. THIS SPECIAL program was given because of the fire at the school Feb. 5. The fire officers reassured the students as well as thanked thfcfn for calm behavior in evacuation of the school on the day of the fire. The students in return thanked the firemen for extinguishing the fire that day and also thanked them for coming to the school twice a month qand monitoring their fire drills. Franklin, who has been interested in art for the past eight years, said the clay will be fired and then applied to her kitchen and bathroom wails as decorative pieces. The workshop is held weekfy at the Art League in Cape May and is open to the public.
