Photo Test Sponsors Sought WILDWOOD - The city Department of Tourism is inviting island businesses to join in cosponsoring an upcoming tourist project. The event is a summerlong photography contest. The objective of this new event is two-fold, according to Mayor Vic DiSylvester: "We want to encourage our visitors to travel throughout the city and the island so that they will discover our beauty, our sites of interest and our businesses. Secondly, we want to enhance our city's image by holding more artistic programs here." THE PHOTOGRAPHY contest advertisements and application forms will be posted throughout the island all summer. Tourists will be able to enter their photographs either while they are on vacation or send them in from their home. The photos will be privately judged in September by two professional photographers who are assisting the city with this event, Ed Obpropta and Doug Hunsberger, and also the city photographer. Mike Melnicoff. The top 20 winning photographs will be enlarged and framed by the contest organizers. These photos will then be on display on Wildwood's boardwalk Sept. 21 in conjunction with the city's Fine Arts Festival. A copy of each winning photograph will become a part of Wildwood's permanent collection. Local businesses are invited to cosponsor the event by donating $250, which will be used to defray advertising expenses. In return, the sponsor will be identified on all point-of-purchase registration materials that will be posted on the island. For further information, call the Wildwood Department of Tourism, 522-1407.
