Seafood Industry Scholarships Set
COURT HOUSE - A ney scholarship award from the Cape May County Seafood Producers Association is now available for county fishing industry students This Seafood Harvester's Scholarship program has been established to honor the families of fishermen o Innkeepers To Convene At Cape CAPE MAY - Innkeepers from around the United States will gather here April 14-16 for the inbeeping Intensives. It's a three-day seminar covering innkeeper concerns for promotion to money, sponsored by the industry newsletter, in n beeping The seminar starts with a reception at The Mainstay, followed by two days of sessions at The Bay berry Inn. SPEAKERS include innkeeping editor and publisher Mary E. Da vies of Inverness, C^lif; Dr. Jeffrey Lant of Cambridge'. Mass., author of The Unabashed SelfPromoter's Guide; Pat Hardy of Santa Barbara, Calif., co author of So You Want to Be an Innkeeper ; and Bill Oates, principal of the inn acquisitions firm William Oates and Associates. According to area coordinator Tom Snyder of Cape May's Manor House, "Local innkeepers are excited about having this outstanding seminar right here at home." Application forms for this program are available from the county's high school guidance officers, from the sponsoring organization or the Cape May County Extension Office. Application deadline is May 1. Funds for the scholarship program have been generated by the Cape May County Seafood Producers Association by participation in the Annual Cape May Seafood Festival and from a luncheon at the Sea Agents Aid Arson Unit STONE HARBOR - The Independent Insurance Agents of Cape May County ( IIACMC ) recently presented the county freeholders with a check for $2,500 for use in the purchase of special equipment for the county's volunteer arson squad. Tom Byrne ^pd Sam Wierman, officers of the IIACMC. made the presentation to Freeholder Ralph Evans at a meeting of the agents at Henny's in Stone Harbor. The funds are being used to equip the arson squad's members with needed gear, including special coats, clothes and hardhaLs The arson squad investigates fires throughout Cape May County to determine their cause. THE SPONSORING organization consists of FBI School Graduate COURT HOUSE - Investigator Todd Pierce of the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office was a member of the 144th Session of the FBI National Academy, which received diplomas at graduation exercises at Quantico. Va.. March 21. Pierce is the fourth member of the prosecutor's office graduated from the academy. The other three are Chief William Matthews, Capt. Robert Elwell and Detective Andrew Vaden. Investigator Pierce is supervisor of the Cape May County Task Force.
